The Eastern Cape Junior String Orchestra serves as the developmental course for young string players. As with the junior wind course, it functions as a feeder program to the senior course. Tutors focus on building foundational ensemble skills in an encouraging environment, nurturing both musical ability and a lasting appreciation for Western art music.

The Eastern Cape String Orchestra Course is designed for Western Arts classical string players. As with the wind orchestra, entry is based on music examination grades (Trinity, ABRSM, UNISA, etc.), generally Grade 4 and above.

The Eastern Cape Junior Wind Orchestra is the developmental program for younger brass, woodwind, and percussion players. Designed as a feeder to the senior course, it caters to musicians at earlier grade levels. Instruction is led by specialists experienced in teaching younger learners, ensuring they acquire core ensemble skills in a fun and engaging way while developing a passion for their instruments and Western art music.

The Eastern Cape Wind Orchestra Course is open to brass, woodwind, and percussion players. Entry is based on grade levels determined by leading external music examination boards (Trinity, ABRSM, UNISA, etc.), with eligibility generally from Grade 4 upwards.

  • Woodwinds: Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Bassoon, Alto/Tenor/Baritone Saxophone
  • Brass: French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba
  • Percussion: Timpani, Mallet Percussion, Drum Kit, Auxiliary Percussion

These courses expose participants to repertoire they may not have access to in their schools and provide professional guidance in skills that are often unavailable at their institutions. Having operated for over a decade, we are proud to be recognized as a trusted name in music education throughout the Eastern Cape and beyond.
